My first impression of the Wynwood Hills Mayhem by CLE Cigars was “Classic”. To me it just had that “old style” look and feel of the cigars I used to smoke 20-years ago.
I straight-cut this cigar today and it produced sweet baking spices (clove, nutmeg?) on the perfect cold draw with just the correct amount of resistance. The draw on this is perfect for a Robusto, in my opinion. The last couple of Robusto cigars I’ve smoked recently were too loose and airy which meant care had to be taken to maximize flavors and not get the cigar to hot or wet.
This Honduran Corojo wrapper is spicy fun, nice change from the usual. I don’t think I’ve received such a strong aroma of baking spices from a cold draw before. I couldn’t stop puffing this unlit cigar.
Once lit at the first inch, baking spice flavors have gone away but, I can sense them wafting in the aroma of its smoke. Smooth earthy tobacco flavors and a bunch of other complex nuances were going on in there.
My first impression holding on to this hefty firmly packed Robusto took me back to the days when I could proudly hold a Cuban cigar of this same size with confidence; the heft and the first initial puff of smoke took me there. I was in a mood to just hold this cigar in my hand… just felt good.
I’m at the last third and everything is coming together now a nutty earthy tobacco with just the correct amount of baking spices coming through. This is a nice way to end my first time with the Wynwood Hills Mayhem by CLE Cigars.
I’ll know what to expect the next time.
