Foundation Cigars, Lancero, Maduro, Mexican San Andres, Wise ManToday I’m paying respect to Lancero February with Foundation Cigar’s Wise Man Maduro Lancero.

After a ship and cut, my cold draw produced the usual suspects for this slim Lancero Cigar; the tried and true flavors of coffee, cocoa, and leather pull me in for more.

Once lit, I’m in my comfort zone once again with the familiar flavors of the Wise Man Maduro… malty earthy coffee with cocoa somewhere in the background and with a perfect pepper spice on the retrohale. #SakamotoHappy!

An hour in and I’m at the halfway point. This slim Lancero packs a flavor punch, as I would expect more concentrated flavors are traveling through this narrow 40-gauge tobacco tube. Coffee, leather, and cocoa remain up front and center with the pepper spice letting me know it’s here in a balanced way.

The last third has ramped its way up to the point where I think it surpasses the larger ring gauges of this blend from what I can remember. I’m going to have to smoke one of the other Wise Man Mauro’s soon to compare it with today’s experience.

I’m diggin’ this cigar so far and I’m not typically a Lancero kinda guy but the last third of this really gave me a second thought. I wonder what would happen if I cut this Lancero in half? After all, this was a two-hour cigar.
