Southern Draw Manzanita in Toro by Southern Draw Cigars

COVID-19 Day 534
Corojo 99, Habano Hybrid, Ligero, Nicaragua, Pelo d’Oro, Robert Holt, Southern Draw Cigars, Southern Draw Manzanita, Toro Being that this was the first time I’ve smoked this Southern Draw Manzanita in Toro by Southern Draw Cigars, the construction of this cigar was one of the first things I noticed about this well put together Manzanita in Toro.

Once lit, I discovered that the draw of this Manzanita is exquisite… providing volumes of creamy smoke of vanilla, chocolate, and leather tobacco flavors with a punchy cinnamon-like, white pepper retrohale.

At the second third, more earthy notes appear enhancing the already present leather and chocolate tobacco flavors. The cinnamon disappeared from the retrohale leaving the white pepper spice to spark things up.

Everything was smoking smoothly until I reached the last third. The flavors of the Southern Draw Manzanita were right in my wheelhouse probably because of the Corojo 99 and Pelo d’Oro tobaccos in the filler. My only disappointment was the ball of hard charred tobacco at the footer. I had to stop a couple of times to loosen and tamp out the old burnt stuff and relight it… but that didn’t last long as the flavors soon became hot and bitter.

Bottom-Line, I really enjoyed this Manzanita until the burn challenges at the last third. Although this was a gift to me, I would expect a cigar at this price to perform flawlessly.
