Rocky Patel Fifty (BP)

COVID-19 Day 397:
Ecuador Habano, Ecuador Habano Oscuro, Fifty, Oscuro, Rocky Patel, Rocky Patel 50th Anniversary After discovering my stash of Rocky Patel cigars in the TupperDor last week and having just experienced the “Aged” Vintage 1999 Connecticut by Rocky Patel … Outdoors on my morning Cigar Walk, I had to vet my early belief that this Box Pressed Rocky Patel Fifty is what I remembered it to be.

Well, two and a half years later (11.2018), I sparked this “Aged” Rocky Patel Fifty to discover with my own evolved palate, lush and satisfying smoke full of complex flavors that range from earthy coffee and leather to cherry (raisins) and some sweet licorice with a perfect amount of spice in the background.

Smoking past the halfway point I wake up to how creamy this Rocky Patel Fifty is as chocolate joins the flavor party.

This cigar is a definite winner for the TupperDor! Now, if I could just find some more of these to purchase of this older cigar release… these are difficult to find!

It’s been a long time since I first blazed the Rocky Patel Fifty and I was looking forward to this one… It didn’t disappoint.

At the start, this cigar felt soft and smoochy, but it never became an issue. Creamy Earthy Spice with lots of smoke on the first third and my nostrils are singing to me.

Halfway thru the black pepper picks up and almost brings tears to my eyes on the retrohale; my tongue is getting spiced out, I think I need to slow this down; I’ll rest this cigar for a bit

An hour into it and I’m at the last third. The flavors are ramping up and I’m diggin’ it.

Total time 1-1/2 hours

When I first purchased this Rocky Patel Fifty I thought it was going to be a good candidate for my “Sunroof” cigars; something that I didn’t have to think about, something that wasn’t too complex, an “Easy Ride”.

I think this is too good for that. This one deserves a little more respect. I think I’ll sit down for my next one.

Cheers
Stay Smokey
