Ricochet by La Barba Cigars / Caldwell Cigars

COVID-19 Day 520
Dominican, Dominican Republic, Indonesian, La Barba, Mexican San Andres, Nicaraguan, Pennsylvanian, Ricochet The Ricochet by La Barba Cigars / Caldwell Cigars has easily made the cut into the “Regular” Cigar-Rotation… it will be a joy to blaze this cigar for many more smoking sessions to come!

From an open and smoky draw come deep earthy tobacco flavors of leather and cedar with a soft pepper spice on the retrohale. As the La Barba Ricochet warmed up, Coffee, Chocolate, Leather, and Cream tobacco flavors came forward with a White Pepper spice on the retrohale.

There will be many more experiences with this Ricochet by La Barba Cigars / Caldwell Cigars to come.

COVID-19 Day 472
Dominican, Dominican Republic, Indonesian, La Barba, Mexican San Andres, Nicaraguan, Pennsylvanian, Ricochet Everything that I like in a full-bodied cigar is in this Ricochet by La Barba Cigars (Caldwell Cigars)… Coffee, Chocolate, Leather, and Cream with White Pepper spice represented well on the retrohale.

The only criticism I have is the snug draw because I’m too lazy to pull out my Felting Needle to loosen it up… My bad

The second third continues on pretty much the same as the first third and I’m not complaining about that as the initial blast of tobacco flavors are keeping me well engaged with this Full-Bodied Ricochet Cigar.

I’m now wishing I had made time to fix the snug draw as I’m struggling to get a decent puff from the Finger-Burning Nub of this La Barba Ricochet Cigar.

Until next time…

COVID-19 Day 425:
Dominican, Dominican Republic, Indonesian, La Barba, Mexican San Andres, Nicaraguan, Pennsylvanian, Ricochet I was advised that this would be a beefier La Barba blend and smoking experience than the La Barba Purple (Ecuadorian Habano) yesterday and they were “Right-On”!

If I saw these for sale at the “correct” price, I’d jump and purchase a few to have on hand in the TupperDor!

Today this Mexican San Andres wrapped La Barba Ricochet by La Barba Cigars / Caldwell Cigars provided plenty of enjoyable Leather, Coffee, Chocolate, Pepper Spices, and an overall Dark Richness with a Creamy delivery… and the Burn line was “Razor”.

I was digging this cigar today! I just might have to grab a few more of these.

I had tried the La Barba Purple back in November that left me short of what my current “wheelhouse” is; chewy, earthy, leathery, cocoa. We’ll see what this La Bamba Ricochet by Caldwell Cigars (formally Primitivo) has in store with its Mexican San Andrés wrapper. I have better hopes for this cigar than the Purple.

This was my first La Barba Ricochet by Caldwell Cigars. It wasn’t my first La Barba though (La Barba Purple by Caldwell Cigars)

After my first lackluster impression of the “Purple”, Jeff Martinez at Sellwood Cigar suggested I try the La Barba Ricochet… I’m glad he did. I didn’t notice much on the cold draw so, snip and clip and add some fire and earthy slightly sweet cedar and coffee and very little spice if any greet me on the retrohale

I’m at 30-minutes to get to the end of the first third, not much has changed. The smoke has a dry quality to it, and the char-line is razor-sharp, so no complaints with the burn.

The La Barba Ricochet is a very enjoyable cigar that falls just short of my sweet spot of flavors. I certainly wouldn’t refuse one if you offered it to me and I might seek out a 5-pack for these.
