Ricochet by La Barba

01/21/2019
I had tried the La Barba Purple back in November that left me short of what my current “wheelhouse” is; chewy, earthy, leathery, cocoa. We’ll see what this La Bamba Ricochet by Caldwell Cigars (formally Primitivo) has in store with its Mexican San Andrés wrapper. I have better hopes for this cigar than the Purple.

This was my first La Barba Ricochet by Caldwell Cigars. It wasn’t my first La Barba though (La Barba Purple by Caldwell Cigars)

After my first lackluster impression of the “Purple”, Jeff Martinez at Sellwood Cigar suggested I try the La Barba Ricochet… I’m glad he did. I didn’t notice much on the cold draw so, snip and clip and add some fire and earthy slightly sweet cedar and coffee and very little spice if any greet me on the retrohale

I’m at 30-minutes to get to the end of the first third, not much has changed. The smoke has a dry quality to it, and the char-line is razor sharp, so no complaints with the burn.

The La Barba Ricochet is a very enjoyable cigar that falls just short of my sweet spot of flavors. I certainly wouldn’t refuse one if you offered it to me and I might seek out a 5-pack for these.
