Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez Special Selection in Toro by General Cigar Company

COVID-19 Day 617
A.J. Fernandez, AJ Fernandez, Ecuador, Habano Oscuro, Nicaragua, Oscuro, Ramon Allones, Robusto What a difference a couple of months can make… the first time I smoked this Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez Special Selection by General Cigar Company I wasn’t too impressed and was left with a “Meh” impression of it.

Well, after a little research and probably a different attitude today, I discovered that this Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez could be growing on me. After all, I don’t know of too many A.J. Fernandez cigars that I don’t like.

Come to find out, this is A.J.’s homage to the original Cuban-style Ramon Allones… so that puts everything into perspective moving forward.

Once lit, right away, pepper flavors of the black and red kind first wash over my palette. Through a perfect draw, comes the second third of earth, leather, coffee tobacco flavors with hints of sweetness. The spice is still there, just melded into the other tobacco flavors.

After two hours, I’m at the last third of this very Cubanesque cigar. Smooth slightly sweet smoke delivers creamy earthy leather and coffee tobacco flavors. I’m diggin’ this Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez Special Selection today. I’m glad I decided to give it another try.

For the price that I can find these online, this could earn its way into the regular Cigar Rotation…

Smoke Time: Two-1/2 hours… this was a slow burner. I was at Two-Hours at the start of the last third.

Until next time…

COVID-19 Day 551
A.J. Fernandez, AJ Fernandez, Ecuador, Habano Oscuro, Nicaragua, Oscuro, Ramon Allones, Robusto I think I under-appreciate attempts to mimic the Cuban Cigar Smoking experience… at least I’m beginning to think that these efforts are wasted on me.

I was looking forward to sparking this Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez Special Selection (General Cigar Company) today, but maybe it was my mood, something I ate earlier, but this specimen just didn’t quite hit the spot… Once lit, a dry, slightly sweet cedar tobacco flavor with a spicy retrohale that goes all the way to my sinuses was had thru a perfect draw with the correct amount of resistance.

As I moved along, I didn’t experience any changes or transitions with this already “meh” cigar…

Well, with a third left (what you see in this photo to the right), I’m going to lay this down and get on to my next cigar adventure. Maybe I need to let this rest in the TupperDor a little longer and see how she develops

Until next time
