COVID-19 Day 896:
Today was my first time with this PDR AFR-75 San Andres Maduro Sublime (Robusto) by PDR Cigars. I’ve been on a fun fact-finding journey with a few PDR Branded Cigars. Since I’ve become enamored with their Connecticut Valley Reserve Maduro, I’ve been wondering what else PDR Cigars has to offer… this is my journey.
Once lit, through an open draw come easy smoke that delivers some dry cedar and earthy dark coffee and dry cocoa powder tobacco flavors along with some subtle black pepper… the retrohale is reinforcing those black pepper flavors with no spice to tingle my nose hairs with.
At the second third, it seems as though some of e underlying tobacco flavors are trying to come out without much success… from the blend profile, I was hoping for more, but at this stage, it’s falling short. The same tobacco flavors are coming forward with a little more oomph but is just falling short leaving me wanting more… the retrohale is still the same smooth black pepper without the spice kick.
Overall, an enjoyable cigar that just fell short of making it into the Regular Cigar Rotation… don’t get me wrong, if I were offered one of these PDR AFR-75 San Andres Maduros, I’d smoke it again.
