Once lit, this Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapped cigar showcases its choclate brown appearance. As the initial puffs hit the palate, earthy barnyardsy tobacco flavors of black pepper, subtle baking spices, and leather dance across my taste buds. Retrohaling brings the Don Pepin spice that adds an extra layer of intrigue.
Into the second third, the La Promesa continues to impress with its transitions and flavor evolution. The subtle dark chocolate flavors appear, making way for the leather and earthy undertones. The retrohale brings the spice, accentuating the complexity and adding a pleasant zing to the smoking experience.
As the final third of the La Promesa, the flavors deepen, providing a gratifying culmination to the journey. The dark chocolate returns, accompanied by hints of cedar and roasted nuts. The Nicaraguan tobacco blend remains consistent, delivering a smooth and flavorful smoke until the very end. Retrohaling enhances the spicy notes and brings a satisfying finish to the cigar.
In summary, the La Promesa lives up to its name by delivering a fulfilling smoking experience. The Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper provides a visually appealing and flavor-packed introduction. The transitions from the first to the second third bring a harmonious blend of dark chocolate, espresso, leather, and earthy notes. The final third brings a delightful interplay of dark chocolate, cedar, and roasted nuts. Throughout the smoke, the Nicaraguan binder and filler contribute to the cigar’s complexity and depth. Retrohaling adds an extra dimension, amplifying the spice and enhancing the overall enjoyment.

COVID-19 Day 904:
By now it should be no secret that I’m a huge fan of this La Promesa in Robusto Grande by My Father Cigars.
The La Promesa has certainly earned a place in the regular cigar rotation with its balanced notes of pepper, leather, and oak delivered through creamy chewy smoke. It’s pure joy for me to smoke this tried and true cigar.
I did notice that the 54-ring gauge was kinda getting in my way, so I might be on the lookout for a smaller vitola… maybe the Petite (Short Robusto, 4.5″ x 50) would better suit my smoking experience. At least I’ll have some options in the TupperDor for the next time I smoke this exquisite cigar.

COVID-19 Day 742:
I was looking forward to blazing this La Promesa in Robusto Grande by My Father Cigars this morning.
Once lit, creamy smooth chewy smoke came to me that delivered black pepper tobacco flavors along with some delicious leather and milk chocolate notes and, a nice white pepper spice on the retrohale.
At the halfway point, earthy tobacco flavors and creamy cedar flavors take center stage with those leather notes right beside it and I’m a happy kinda guy with this smoking experience with this My Father La Promesa in Robusto Grande.
I think you’re going to have to hold me back from smoking all of these from the get go…
Until next time…

Apparently, this was my first time smoking this his “Aged” Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapped La Promesa in Robusto Grande by My Father Cigars. I think I need to smoke more of these!
I just purchased a bunch of these, so you’ll be seeing more of them in my cigar rotation.
