COVID-19 Day 580
I was so looking forward to sparking this Montecristo Pilotico Pepe Mendez by Montecristo Cigars for the second time today… for the most part, I was happy with it, but I had some soft spots at the first third all the way through the second third that impeded some of the cigar’s performance. But, nonetheless, I was able to eke out some of those tobacco flavors that I remembered from my first experience with this last month (September 2021).
Once lit, creamy cedar, coffee, and leather tobacco flavors come to me from this beast of a Toro with a retrohale of soft lambskin leather. I’m struggling a bit with the spongy draw as I can’t seem to get a full mouthful of smoke and I don’t want to overwork it and get a hot cigar… Let’s see what the second third brings.
At the second third, I’ve discovered a major patch of a soft spot that explains my spongy draw… From this come full-on leather tobacco flavors that I’m lovin! The retrohale now has some white pepper spices joining the leather…
I’ll keep an eye on what I have left of these to make sure there are no soft spots on the next one I choose from the TupperDor.

COVID-19 Day 545
Today was my first time with this Montecristo Pilotico Pepe Mendez by Montecristo Cigars (José “Pepe” Mendez) and I know I’ll be fantasizing about this until the next time I get to smoke it!
The first thing that I noticed was that this Montecristo Pilotico Pepe Mendez is a weighty cigar… I guess stuffed to the brim with the featured “Pilotico” filler tobacco…
Once lit, easy smoke comes and eases any trepidation I may have had for this cigar’s inaugural journey. Creamy chewy natural tobacco flavors with a slightly sweet finish of dominant leather tobacco flavors with a pretty soft/mild retrohale. At the second half, some black pepper shows up and that’s fine with me.
This Montecristo Pilotico Pepe Mendez was love at first puff! More Please!
I can’t wait to smoke this cigar again.
