I’m pretty fortunate to be surrounded by fellow BOTLs who have a penchant for purchasing Cuban Cigars; too rich for my taste for a 50% success rate, but I’m not one to turn down a new experience.
Today I smoked the Montecristo 8th Anniversario cigar commemorating the 80th anniversary in 2015 (released in 2016-2017). – Cigar Inspector
On to this beautifully silky smooth wrapped cigar, flawless, large sized (6.5” x 55) but light in weight.
Once lit, cool gentle smoke greeted me with some woody earthiness and no spice on my retrohale. Into the second third and creamy smooth earthy tobacco flavors with some hints of malt keep me company for most of the way to the middle of the final third.
At the last third, the flavors ramp up in proportion to the beginnings of the Montecristo 8th Anniversario, smooth and creamy smoke with the added flavors of almond paste has entered the party.
I’m going to guess that this will be a sought after cigar after it’s had some time to marinate in the Humidor. I’ll bug Rian Walker in a few months and see what develops.
