If I don’t like this Maestro Del Tiempo 5205 (Lancero) by Warped Cigars, I’ll be surprised. Besides the reputation of blender Kyle Gellis and that this is a Nicaraguan Puro using 100% AGANORSA leaf, and rolled at Casa Fernández’s TABSA factory in Esteli, Nicaragua owned by the Fernández family (Casa Fernández). What could go wrong?
A snip and a cut of this delicate cigar and my nose detects barnyard, subtle bread, and cedar notes. Once lit, I detected creamy nuts; not peanut butter, creamy nuts with subtle pepper spice on the retrohale.
I’m starting the second third after about 25 minutes. All is good with the same flavors delivered as the first third. The draw is perfect and easy especially for a Lancero whose ash still only hangs on for a half-inch or so.
An hour in and I’m at the halfway point with smooth black coffee now the main flavor I’m picking up along with the pepper spice ramping up ever so slightly on the retrohale. My burn-line has been perfect, not needing any assistance.
At the last third and the Maestro Del Tiempo 5205 (Lancero) is delivering flavors of black coffee and I’m good with that. This is a very pleasant and enjoyable mild to medium cigar. I have another I’ll bring out in a month or so to see what happens after I rest this a bit longer.
