With anticipation, I was looking forward to treating myself to this highly rated cigar, a gift from Sumo Ralph.
After a couple of weeks in my possession this beasty 60 ring-gauge beauty got blazed and the smoke starts poring out as promised. I’m glad this is a Perfecto; the taper of the cap is preferred on these oversized monsters, now my mouth wouldn’t have to wrestle with a big round thing between my lips.
A ton of earthy cocoa toasty smoke at the first half-inch and the cap starts to unravel so I’ll use my cigar-glue. I’m almost 30-minutes into this and I’m still aways from the second third. This is a slow burn and I’m diggin’ it.
At the halfway point, I’m getting gritty earth and a bunch of other savory notes, everything is well balanced, and so far, the cap is holding on, but I don’t know for how much longer. Not much of anything else has transitioned; the smoke keeps billowing.
At the final third this puppy is still a chimney giving me very full flavored beautifully balanced smoke. I’m not picking up any spice on the retrohale. This has been a flavorful earthy complex smoke throughout although the cap is starting to become soft and mushy and fall apart again. I might have to put this down, not that I want to.
This is a glorious premium cigar and unfortunately for me it is priced accordingly. But, for very special occasions, you might want to consider having a couple of these resting in your unit.
