La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Double Claro

Candela, Double Claro, Ecuadorian Double Claro, La Flor Dominicana, LFD 04/17/2019
Sometimes you have to try something different to get yourself out of and off the #Bubble. The La Flor Dominicana Double Claro is a testament to that thinking.

I don’ t know what you might have heard or had preconceived notions of, but before you say anything, I think you should give this LFD Double Claro some respect.

I thought this cigar might start off like some other Candela Wrapped cigars I’ve tried recently, but NOPE!, this is not what I would call your typical “grassy, hay” candela. First of all, the Double Claro is what the name implies; a double wrapped candela wrapper to provide a thicker and not a “fragile” physical smoking experience to the “touch”.

A snip and a cut and I’m inhaling earthy tobacco with a touch of cocoa and grassy/hay sweetness. Once lit, a whole new adventure awaits; creamy earthy tobacco flavors with leather and coffee. The retrohale provides a perfect amount of spice for me. #SakamotoHappy!

At the halfway point and there is no doubt that this is a flavor packed cigar! No trace or anything dry, grassy, or paper thin tobacco on my lips. I was doing my morning reading so I was a slow smoker this morning; meaning I had to relight this cigar several times until the final third when I decided to “torch” the footer and blast away.

My overall leisure smoke-time was over 2-hours. These will reside in my TupperDor from this moment forward.

This is a first that I can remember; smoking a Candela Wrapped cigar; at least while I was paying attention. The La Flor Dominicana Double Claro will be the one.

Here we go, a snip and clip and I’m off.

On my cold draw, I got tobacco flavors and not much of anything else. Once lit, I was happily surprised at the volumes of smoke from a looser draw or less resistance than I’m used to but, no worries; this cigar is a not a wimpy cigar. It packs a bit of a punch with a very nice amount of spice on the retrohale.

Almost halfway and creamy earthy flavors show up with black pepper coating my tongue. Of course let’s not forget what brand we’re smoking here.

The LFD delivers. Solid creamy smooth earthy flavors are delivered via abundant smoke. The pepper spice has mellowed a bit.

Bottom-Line, I’m buying more of these La Flor Dominicana Double Claros and checking out a few more Candela Wrapped cigars.
