COVID-19 Day 1,005
What a treat today to be able to smoke and enjoy this annual release of this Crowned Heads Limited release of the Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2017.
After a snip with my V-Cutter, I was off to what I can tell will be an exquisite journey smoking this rare-ish annual release of the Las Calaveras 2017… What’s not to like?
Smooth creamy deep rich smoke delivers malty woody notes, coffee, and a touch of chocolate. The retrohale delivers some black pepper flavors and I’m looking forward to the rest of the way!
Now at the second third almost to the halfway point, I’m not disappointed at all about this cigar… creamy smooth smoking continues with tasty black pepper, wood notes, coffee, and leather with a splash of chocolate. The retrohale has ramped up a bit providing a nice pepper zing.
At the last third, there were some burn issues… one side of the cigar was having a hard time keeping up with the rest that required a few touch-ups… other than that, I wish these weren’t so hard to find.
I was surprised at how long this took to smoke and I’m not complaining… I have a few more in the TupperDor that I will have to “Savor”.

COVID-19 Day 503
First time smoking this Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2017 by Crowned Heads Cigars today.
From the cold draw, I was detecting some unique baking spices… Once lit, my eyes go wide from the buttery, creamy smooth smoke of the dark coffee, cocoa, and leather tobacco flavors with a spicy pepper kick on the retrohale.
At about the halfway point, creamy chocolate notes and dark coffee become the dominant tobacco flavors with some woody notes along with a zippy sharp retrohale… The burn and draw are spot on!
As I approach the last third some of those baking spices are starting to reveal themselves in a very nuanced way while the rest of the tobacco flavors become more intense and upfront. Black pepper tobacco flavors are coating my tongue as I near the end of the delicious cigar.
I can’t wait for the next time… I was able to find a few of these still available online…
