La Relatos Lancero by Warped Cigars

COVID-19 Day 318

Ecuadorian Habano, La Relatos Lancero, Lancero, Nicaragua, Warped Cigars I get excited when I choose one of the Warped La Relatos Lancero that I have resting in my TupperDor to smoke and enjoy.

This is a beautifully constructed cigar that starts with slightly sweet earthy tobacco along with black pepper flavors that the retrohale reinforces… I’m not detecting any spice at this point.

At the second third, something woody joins the party as does some leather tobacco flavors that I was hoping would show up. There’s an underlying base flavor of black pepper that coats my tongue for a lasting finish. Still no spice on the retrohale.

At the last third, not much has changed but something that I’ve noticed in all of the La Relatos Lancero by Warped Cigars that I’ve smoked; when I approach the nub of the final third, the draw starts to get funky and wet or tarry; I’ll have to remember to snip off the cap off as I near this point next time I smoke this and there will be a next time.

This is a very enjoyable cigar.

Ecuadorian Habano, La Relatos Lancero, Lancero, Nicaragua, Warped CigarsI’ve been looking forward to smoking the La Relatos Lancero by Warped Cigars all week and here I am!

Once lit, earth and black pepper come to the forefront of flavors with a decent retrohale that had a bit of spice to it through a perfect draw.

I’ve had a few of theses before and from past experience, the real joy comes at the halfway and last third. So, hold on…

Well into the second third, earthy black pepper and leather are keeping me company with a respectable retrohale still in the fold.

At the final third the La Relatos Lancero speaks to me in all its deep rich tobacco flavors. This is a joy to smoke.

Mmmm, Mmmmm, Good!

Today’s La Relatos by Kyle Gellis at Warped Cigars is the second time I’ve smoked this cigar. I’ve waited a couple of months since I smoked my first La Relatos that I purchased from The Stash Smoke Shop in Milwaukie, Oregon; ask for Isaac Miller, Certified Retail Tobacconist.

Aside from the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, these days, any time I see Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98 as any part of a cigar, I’m in!

A snip and a cut and I’m on my way with buttered toast, earthy tobacco and leather with some baking spices on my first few puffs. Ahhhhhh, my first experience is coming back to me.

At the halfway point, I’m not getting any transitions that I could detect, but I’ve been talking with Ed Sumo for the past 45 minutes. This cigar is going to last a while.

At the last third, some coffee and dark chocolate started to show up, but the main flavors I’m enjoying are the deep rich earthy tobacco and leather notes that are ramping up with some nice pepper spice now showing up on my retrohale.

It was with great anticipation that I’m smoking the Warped La Relatos Lancero today. I was reminded that this cigar only came out a few months ago so I might have to be a little more patient.

After waiting 12-days since I brought these home from The Stash Smoke Shop in Milwaukie, Oregon, I decided that today was the day. After all, we’re in the middle of Lancero February.

I didn’t get much from the cold draw and once lit, I have a little challenge with the tighter than normal draw than I’m used to; but I persevered and everything works out just fine and dandy.

It was a challenge for me at the beginning, but earth coffee leather came to me and pepper spice on the retrohale made me have a little more faith in this cigar.

At the halfway point things change and this cigar is starting to speak to me. More earthy leather and a better draw make for a good first impression. The pepper spice has gone away… oh well.

I’m letting my other La Relatos Lancero by Warped Cigars stay resting for a few more weeks or months to see if there are any improvements.
