La Opulencia BP Robusto by My Father Cigars

La Opulencia, Mexican Rosado Oscuro, My Father CigarsThe La Opulencia BP Robusto by My Father Cigars is a solid cigar that belongs in my TupperDor and in my regular rotation.

This is a perfect “first” cigar for me to get my day going as I pour over my reading materials.

The La Opulencia provides thick chewy rich complex smoke that provides an enjoyable ride of earthy tobacco, leather, cocoa and the correct amount of pepper spice on the retrohale.

This one stays!

I’ve become cautious in my old age, so I took a punch-cut today on this My Father La Opulencia Box-Pressed Robusto cigar. I’ve learned that a straight-cut on some if not all box-pressed cigars can be difficult with ensuing burn challenges if you’re not careful with that snip and cut.

Once lit solid earth and leather and bakers chocolate ride on volumes of My Father’s smoke right off the first draw. After a bit, vanilla gives way to some sweetness I detect but the main earthy flavors are keeping me smiling.

The My Father La Opulencia will be in my regular rotation of cigars. I just don’t know which size I will stick with (no pun intended).

La Opulencia, Mexican Rosado Oscuro, My Father CigarsToday was a perfect day to revisit the My Father La Opulencia. I’ve had a few of these early in my reentry into the Cigar Hobby; today I take note of what I’m probably going to add to my collection of cigars.

This is a smaller sized cigar (Robusto) than I’ve previously enjoyed. I decided to try this Robusto size as more of a function of the time it was going to take to smoke, rather than the “Leisure” of time. I think I made the correct choice.

Because of the smallish cap, I punch-cut this for a cold draw of earthy leather, coffee, and cocoa. The perfect draw doesn’t produce any spice to speak of on the retrohale.

Finally, at the end of the first third, into the halfway point, the typical My Father flavors arrive mirroring what the cold draw promised. A smooth chewy smoke accompanies me the rest of the way.

At the final third the flavors ramp up and all is good with me. #SakamotoHappy. I purchased 10 of these recently and I’m happy with my purchase.
