COVID-19 Cigar Walk, Day 187: 2.0-Mile Cigar
Brazilian Arapiraca, Dominican Republic, La Aurora, La Aurora Preferido Maduro Ruby, Preferido Maduro, Ruby, Sun Grown Today I’m smoking the La Aurora Preferido Maduro in Corona (5.5″ x 42). In reviewing my notes, this is a gift from Jeff Martinez at Sellwood Cigar way back in January 2020 after which I smoked the Robusto version of this blend.

Well, in reviewing my notes from this morning’s Cigar Walk with this La Aurora Preferido Maduro Roby in Corona, I didn’t have much to say or add… it was a pleasant cigar, but for $9.00 (Corona) – $11.00 (Robusto) I’m expecting more! So far, I’m left feeling nonplussed about this cigar.

I have one Robusto left in the TupperDor, so we’ll see if she makes the cut the next time I smoke this cigar.

Brazilian Arapiraca, Dominican Republic, La Aurora, La Aurora Preferido Maduro Ruby, Preferido Maduro, Ruby, Sun Grown Through a very snug draw, I was able to coax the first few puffs that delivered coffee and leather tobacco flavors. Because of the draw issues, I decided to make an “X-Cut” with my V-Cutter… that helped a bit. Let’s see if she opens up.

At the second third, the draw is still pretty snug, so I might have to poke a toothpick or something in there.

Earthy cedar flavors join the party making the flavor profiles almost complete. There isn’t really any spice on the retrohale that I can detect.

At the last third, I gave in and stuck a toothpick into the cap-end about 3 or 4 times and it seemed to help. Fortunately, I have another Robusto and a Corona resting as well.

In the end, dark coffee or espresso flavors have become dominant now. If it weren’t for the snug draw this would have been a great experience. Fortunately, the flavors are still there although difficult to enjoy.
Until next time.
