Brazil Arapiraca Maduro, Brazilian Arapiraca, Crowned Heads, Dominican Republic, J.D. Howard Reserve10/22/2019

I’m a fan of the J.D. Howard Reserve by Crowned Heads. I have been since the second one I smoked back in February (2019). The J.D. Howard Reserve delivers a consistent smoking experience and tobacco flavors that I can count on time after time.

Earth, leather, and chocolate come to me through a perfect draw made by my relatively new V-Cutter from Sellwood Cigar. The retrohale is pretty tame starting out.

About an inch in and things change up a bit. For one, the spice on the retrohale is talking to me now; so much so that I have to squint my eyes to avoid the “burn”. The tobacco flavors have evolved so that the chocolate has diminished and earthy flavors become more pronounced.

At the halfway point, smooth creamy smoke flows with the same earthy tobacco flavors with the retrohale coming on with a bite.

I’m at the last third and even though this isn’t a complex cigar, it makes my list because it delivers just what I need when I pull it from the Sakamoto TupperDor. I know exactly what I’m going to receive from this affordable cigar

A great first cigar of the day for me as I fuss around with my reading materials or while writing. I don’t have to focus all my attention on this… just enjoy it!

Brazil Arapiraca Maduro, Brazilian Arapiraca, Crowned Heads, Dominican Republic, J.D. Howard ReserveTruth be told, I couldn’t wait to blaze this Crowned Heads J.D. Howard cigar today, and I was not disappointed.

I immediately welcomed the smooth chocolate blast from a perfect draw… I just want to sink into my chair and forget about everything else around me.

The J.D. Howard delivered what I was anticipating this morning; cocoa, earthy leather, and coffee flavors all packaged up for me in this delicious cigar.

I’m glad I grabbed this one for today’s two-hour “In-The-Zone” experience.

Brazil Arapiraca, Crowned Heads, J.D. Howard ReserveI have finally made time for this long-anticipated day, as I will get to try the Crowned Heads J.D. Howard cigar once again since my first time about a month ago.

A snip and a cut and I’m inhaling chocolate bars and baking spices. Once lit, I’m in my “zone” once again; this cigar is just as I remembered it.

The Crowned Heads J.D. Howard cigar is a hefty cigar with smooth and balanced smoke that brings in the cocoa, earthy leather, and coffee flavors that hits all my flavor checkboxes. I will add that this isn’t a “Knock-Your-Socks-Off” cigar, but pretty dang close. I could smoke this cigar every day. There are just a few others that I could say the same for.

Maybe I’ll up my “5-Pack-Worthy” to a “10-Pack-Worthy”. These need to be in my regular rotation.

Brazil Arapiraca, Crowned Heads, J.D. Howard ReserveNot bad, not bad. The more I read about the Crowned Heads J.D. Howard cigar, the more I’m impressed.

A snip and a straight-cut and earthy woody cocoa smoke with enough pepper spice on the retrohale to let me know it’s there greet me. Volumes of chewy medium-bodied smoke come pouring right off the first light with a perfect draw … a short subtle finish lingers briefly.

At the halfway point, creamy earthy cedar and leather take over the flavors to keep me company at this point with a coffee and pepper finish and it’s noticeable on the retrohale too. This is a fast cigar; I think I’ll be finished within an hour of my first light.

The Crowned Heads J.D. Howard cigar is a cigar that sits right in the middle of my flavor wheelhouse; it doesn’t make the mark of some of the more premium cigars (not a premium cigar in my opinion), but a solid cigar experience that I enjoyed.

This is 5-pack worthy. Who knows I may change my mind and purchase a box?
