As I set fire to the Herrera Esteli, the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper immediately sets the stage for a captivating performance. I’m always reminded when I smoke one of these, that they are rolled in the Entubado style. Not many cigars have this quality. No wonder the draw is always perfect!

The initial draws offer creamy black pepper and cedar tobacco flavors to get me going. The flavors are elegant yet robust, and the retrohale contributes to this dance of flavors, amplifying the peppery notes while introducing a subtle herbal undertone, akin to a breath of fresh air in the countryside.

Coming into the second third, I’m reminded why the Herrera Esteli continues to stay in my cigar rotation. The earthy tobacco flavors continue to deliver pepper and cedar notes that ride on creamy smoke. The retrohale parallels this transition by enhancing the woodycedar notes and adding a nuance of spice.

As we approach the grand finale, the Herrera Esteli becomes a masterpiece of flavor. The woody and coffee notes are now infused with a delightful touch of cocoa, as if enjoying a luxurious chocolate dessert by the fireplace. The retrohale brings out a surge of the complex flavors, emphasizing the cocoa and subtle spices that linger like a sweet memory long after the last draw.

This has earned a spot on my regular cigar rotation.

The familiar tobacco flavors of this Herrera Esteli Robusto by Drew Estate. This Ecuadorian Habano wrapped gem is sure to deliver buttery-smooth satisfaction.

The only thing is, I was smoking this outside at the Casa Du Parents… I’m struggling to be able to detect some of these more nuanced tobacco flavors.

COVID-19 Day 446: 3.0-Mile Cigar
Drew Estate, Ecuadorian Habano, Herrera Esteli, Nicaragua, Robusto, Willy Herrera
It’s no secret that the Herrera Esteli by Drew Estate was one of my “First Cigar Loves” when I returned to the Cigar Hobby in 2018; celebrated by a box purchase or the Toro Vitolas.

Today’s Cigar Walk just reinforced my fondness for this Willy Herrera blend… a perfectly constructed cigar needing no touch-ups or relights that produced a razor-sharp burn-line and mouthfuls of chewy smoke. Creamy buttery waffles are the tobacco flavors I experienced this morning.

I can’t wait to smoke more of this new Vitola in the Herrera Esteli Robusto by Drew Estate very soon and often!
