COVID-19 Day 838
Crowned Heads, Dobles, Ecuadorian: Sumatra, Headley Grange, Headley Grange Dobles, The Crowned Heads, Toro I was looking forward to blazing this Headley Grange Dobles (Toro) by Crowned Heads but discovered construction issues that produced an uneven burn requiring several touch-ups and a soft and spongy cigar from mid smoke until I decided to move on to a different cigar.

I don’t know if the current Supply-Chain issues and understaffed cigar rollers had anything to do with this, but I’m probably letting these rest for a few months before I take it out again.

COVID-19 Day 710:
Crowned Heads, Dobles, Ecuadorian: Sumatra, Headley Grange, Headley Grange Dobles, The Crowned Heads, Toro I think I’ve found my Sweet-Spot for 2022 (so far) in this Headley Grange Dobles (Toro) by Crowned Heads. What a joy to smoke today!

From the very start, earthy cocoa and leather come to me riding on chewy smoke from a draw with just the correct amount of resistance. The retrohale is full of a pleasing leather tobacco flavor.

Smoking just past the one-inch mark and the flavors have transitioned a bit… To darker coffee tobacco flavors with a slight sweetness joining in along with some new pepper spices joining the now creamy smooth leather. I’m diggin’ this!

At the halfway point, I can tell that I have to slow my roll before I make this cigar too hot. I can already taste the Marzipan (Almond Paste) flavors trying to come through, a sure sign of my overindulgence. Leather is the dominant flavor with a red pepper retrohale at this point.

I spent the rest of the time luxuriating with this lovely cigar… I will be searching for more of these for sure!

Interesting tidbit from Halfwheel
“…the official name was to be Headley Grange and that the inspiration of the name came from the fact that Huber wanted a cigar to taste the same as the distinctive drumbeat in the song When the Levee Breaks from Led Zeppelin which was recorded at a building of the same name in England.”
