I’m lucky to be able to hangout around “the Kid” who often shares his vertical cigar preferences with me. Today is one of those days when I decide to take out one of these “highly-prized” sticks.
After a snip and a cut, my cold draw provides baking spices at my first glimpse of this exquisite specimen.
The aromas as I’ve noticed before from the Arturo Fuente Opus X Forbidden X 13 are outstanding with enough pepper spice for me to pick it up from my smoldering cigar.
The draw is perfect delivering complex earth and cedar with a sweet spice in the background. The initial delivery of smoke is almost creamy until the pepper spice says “don’t forget about me!” At the second third the cedar ramps up with black pepper coating my tongue. The spice on the retrohale is mellowing…
For such a diminutive cigar, this one puts out a bunch of balanced complex flavors. I guess there might be something to these high-end Fuente cigars.
I’m at the last third after about an hour and a half and black pepper coats my tongue for a lasting finish with the retrohale now ramping up to what I started with. This is like a “sipping” cigar from this small-gauged flavor stick.
Now at the last couple of inches (nub) earthy flavors become dominant with the same pepper finish on my tongue.
Overall, I really enjoyed smoking the Fuente Opus X Forbidden X 13. It was a two-hour treat.
Thank you, Rian
