Flor de las Antillas Maduro Petit Robusto by My Father

11/11/2019
Today I smoked the Toro Vitola of the Flor de las Antillas Maduro by My Father cigars. I may have to be changing my tune. This cigar experience had me opening my eyes.

Unfortunately, I had some unexpected visitors that prevented me from concentrating on this dandy of a cigar… come to find out.

I’m on the lookout for more so that I can fully vet these… once again.

Ecuadorian, Flor de las Antillas, Habano, Maduro, My Father, Sun Grown OscuroI tried to have an open palate when I choose the My Father Flor de las Antillas Maduro this morning. This might be a cigar that I don’t end up adding to my rotation…

At first light, after a punch cut on this soft Box-Pressed cigar I get wood, black coffee, and earth with a bitterness lingering in the background… I’m hoping it will go away after a bit … we’ll see

At the second third, I’ll call this a bitter oak flavor with none of the other flavors I had from my last experience smoking the Flor de las Antillas Maduro (12.18.2018).

I’ve got two inches to go and I’m putting this down for the count. The bitterness is becoming harsh and not to my liking today…

Too many cigars and not enough time to smoke them

This is my first time with the My Father Flor de las Antillas Maduro cigar and it’s been memorable!

The punch-cut cold draw gave me the sensation of a sweet dark chocolate bar. Wow, I wasn’t expecting this, all I can say is Exquisite right now. Let’s see how she comes along.

Hmmm, I wonder why I didn’t get any of these subtle flavors in the natural version of the Flor de las Antillas. Anyway, I’m here at The Chamber at 9900, and Loni and Jenn and I were discussing marzipan and baking cakes, so naturally, guess what I’m tasting… Chocolate Cake!… the Power of Suggestion. It’s 10:45 am and I’m on my 12th hour of work. #Yep, I started too early, I’m wondering if I have all my senses with me today.

I’m at the last third and digging this cigar. There’s a bitter woody oak that flies over the cocoa that coats my tongue. I think I’ll slow down a little bit more to see if the bitterness goes away.

I’ve got another one to try down the road, but in the meantime, I’ll be searching for where to pick up some more of these Flor de las Antillas Maduro cigars.
