Day 889:
An inaugural experience with this new offering from Oliva Cigars in the Oliva Cuba Aliados by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo in Toro.
Truth be told, when I found out this had an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper on it I had to have it! And, I’m glad I did!
Yes, yes, and yes… Once lit, the tobacco flavors from this Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapped beauty came through loud and clear on my first few puffs of this Ernesto Perez-Carrillo version of the Cuba Aliados cigar.
Through a perfect draw offering the correct amount of resistance come slightly sweet earthy tobacco flavors joined by leather and Umami goodness that the Sumatra wrapper brings to the table. The retrohale is echoing the smooth leather flavors… we’re off to a great start.
I’m at the second third and this cigar is sailing right into my wheelhouse of Sumatra smokes… this is leathery delicious! With a super smooth retrohale of luscious leather to boot!
I’ve got the Churchill Vitola waiting for me that I hope to smoke soon, and I just purchased a couple of the Cuba Aliados Original Blend by a father-and-son team of Julio Eiroa and his son Justo. I can’t wait to see what that one is all about.
Anyway, I have some good times ahead of me…
Until next time…
