Wow … what an effortless draw this Connecticut Valley Reserve Azul by Flores y Rodriguez has… This shouldn’t surprise me since noticing that this cigar didn’t have much heft for its size… black pepper tobacco flavors are dominate with some dark black coffee behind that. The retrohale echos the black pepper flavors.
After puffing away for a bit, I didn’t get any transitions that I could tell… overall, a very pleasant cigar of natural tobacco flavors.
Bottom-Line, I’m not as enamored with this blend as I am with its Connecticut Broadleaf sister the Connecticut Valley Reserve Maduro.
I purchased 10 of these Connecticut Valley Reserve Azuls way back in 2019 that seem to have disappeared in my TupperDor… although they show up from time to time like this one did today that provides an opportunity to try smoking it again.
Until we meet again.

I’m still exploring the potential of the Flores Y Rodriguez Connecticut Valley Reserve Azul.
A snip and a cut and a very open draw of white smoke with mild herbal and pepper flavors come at me. This is a different experience than I’m used to via the richer and deeper tobacco flavors I’ve been smoking lately. I thought the Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado wrapper would offer more of a flavor punch… maybe next time.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable cigar with its effortless draw and volumes of smoke. I have more to try down the road… Stay Tuned.

As a recent cigar fan of the hard-to-find PDR Cigars, Flores y Rodriguez Connecticut Valley Reserve (Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro), I was quick to purchase some of the PDR Flores y Rodriguez Connecticut Valley Azul (Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado).
A snip and a cut and my cold draw deliver faint barnyard and some light baking spices. Once lit, solid earthy tobacco, and black coffee with some light spices on the back of my tongue from a perfect draw. The retrohale hasn’t delivered any spice… we’ll see.
At the second third, coffee has evolved to espresso and dark chocolate and pepper have joined the party. The retrohale is still mild with spice.
I’m enjoying this deep rich cigar. I’m glad I have more to enjoy in the TupperDor.
