Warped Chinchalle in Robusto by Warped Cigars

03/27/2024

First third, the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper brings a smooth earthy tobacco flavors of cocoa powder, graham cracker, and some nutmeg spice … with a touch of creamy leather that lingers on the palate a bit later in the first third. Overall, the dominant tobacco flavor coming to me is oak. The retrohale is subtle at first, offering hints of black pepper and cedar.

At the second third, the earthiness tones down, replaced by a bit of sweetness. Creamy seems to describe this experience as a combination of oak and leather keep me company. The retrohale on the second third goes full-on baking spice – cinnamon and nutmeg, with a hint of oak.

The final third comes and goes leaving me with an oaky leather finished for the rest of this journey. Retrohale here is smooth and peppery, with a touch of floral earthiness.

Construction-wise, the Chinchalle was smooth sailing with no issues at all. Overall, it’s a solid smoke with a flavor profile that keeps you guessing. If you’re looking for a Dominican cigar with some complexity and a touch of surprise, the Warped Chinchalle is definitely worth checking out.

In the first third, the Warped Chinchalle immediately grabs your attention with its stunning Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Once lit, initial puffs reveal a combination of cedar, earth, and a subtle hint of sweetness. Once warmed up earthy tobacco flavors of come through on creamy smoke and leather. As you retrohale, you’ll notice a delightful burst of spices that add depth and complexity to the overall profile. A great start!

Moving into the second third, the flavors of the Warped Chinchalle continue to evolve and surprise. The cedar notes deepen, intertwining with a rich earthiness that creates a robust foundation. Hints of cocoa and tons of leather make me smile. The retrohale remains an added highlight, bringing forward the spices and accentuating the cigar’s overall character.

In the final third, the Warped Chinchalle reaches its crescendo of flavor. The cedar takes center stage, delivering a satisfying woody profile that is complemented by lingering earthy notes. The cocoa and leather become more pronounced, contributing to the overall depth and richness of the smoke. The retrohale continues to impress, offering a well-balanced combination of spices and a touch of sweetness that lingers on the palate.

I can’t wait to smoke this again!

COVID-19 Day 571
AGANORSA, Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A., Nicaragua, Nicaraguan Jalapa Corojo 99′ AGANORSA, Petite Corona, Warped Cigars, Warped Corto, Warped Corto X46 Being that this is Warped Cigars first venture to the Dominican Republic with this Warped Chinchalle…. Not bad, not bad, not bad!

Once lit, the excellence in construction becomes evident through a perfect draw delivering some familiar Dominican Republic tobacco flavors that kind of took me by surprise as I forgot that the feature of this blend is that it is made from the Dominican Republic tobacco … not the typical Nicaraguan tobacco flavors that I’ve become accustomed to (Aganorsa Leaf Tobacco).

I don’t know what Kyle Gellis’s concept was for this cigar at this moment that I’m smoking this, but I’d gather a good guess that he was paying some respect to the old Cuban cigars of yesteryear… What do you think?

This Warped Chinchalle in Robusto by Warped Cigars took me back to some of those more nuanced tobacco flavors of slightly earthy soft leather with some slightly fruity sweetness along with a retrohale of soft white pepper and grapes.

All of sudden, I’m at the last third … I almost forgot to pay attention to this … I was sailing through this up until this point when the tobacco flavors started to get more punchy and bitter… Probably from my quest to eke out more deliciousness from this exquisite First-Time experience with this Warped Chinchalle cigar.

I had a good time with this new and “fresh” cigar. I cannot wait to see how it will behave in a couple of months.
