Blackbird Cigar, Born Free 1776, by Cigar Federation, CFT, COTM, Mexican San Andres Maduro The CFT Born Free (Exclusive) *Micro-Blend* by Cigar Federation is a firmly packed and hefty dark cigar.

The cold draw and aromas of the wrapper continue with my first puffs… chocolate and sweet leather are the tobacco flavors that immediately come to me through an almost perfect draw (a little snug) while still producing volumes of satisfying smoke for these flavors to ride on, and a retrohale of black pepper spice in just the correct amount with an ash that hangs on for a half-inch or so before falling off.

My first-time experience with the Born Free *Micro-Blend* is pretty good so far. I shouldn’t be too surprised; I haven’t had very many “misses” from Cigar Federation offerings.

Coming into the second third after almost an hour, Deep rich espresso flavors replace the chocolate with a leather finish that still echoes the cold draw and first sniff of the wrapper. I’m diggin’ this cigar.

At the last third an hour and half later and everything is deep and rich in flavors with a retrohale that reflects the dark espresso and slightly sweet leather.

I just might have to seek out more of these dandy cigars.
