A perfect Cigar Walk this morning with this delicious Black Market Esteli by Alec Bradley Cigars. This Nicaraguan Puro of malty, creamy dark coffee and cocoa tobacco flavors riding on plentiful smoke… right in my wheelhouse… also a perfect burn needing no touch-ups a rare occurrence on these morning treks.

If I haven’t said it before, I’ll declare now that the Black Market Esteli by Alec Bradley Cigars is definitely Box Worthy, and being that they are very affordable, make for a perfect Walking Cigar for my morning Cigar Walks!

COVID-19 Cigar Walk, Day 94: 3.5-Mile Cigar
The Black Market Esteli by Alec Bradley is fast becoming my next Box-Worthy Cigar!

One look at its oily wrapper and good thoughts come to mind… The Black Market Esteli is a luscious cigar full of earthy leathery tobacco flavors that hit my sweet spots… even while walking!

This Robusto Vitola was for sure a 3 – 3.5-Mile cigar (maybe even 4-Miles)… the Toro Vitola would be perfect for the longer treks of 4 – 6-Miles… Just Sayin’

I’m looking for more of these real soon!

Ever since I had my eyes opened to the Black Market Esteli by Alec Bradley, I crave them from time-to-time. Today I get to fire one up.

My first puffs of the Black Market Esteli provide creamy coffee and rich dark malty chocolate with a retrohale of dusty cocoa and a little spice through a perfect draw that produces volumes of smoke.

At the halfway point deep rich cocoa comes on as the dominant flavor with a retrohale that reinforces the cocoa with minimal spice.

I’m sailing along with this delicious discovery and I’m pretty happy with this cigar especially since the original black market didn’t really have any wow factors that I can remember. This one is different.

I think its time to stock up on some more for the TupperDor.

Straight-cut and a snip and I detect on cold draw a pleasant chocolate flavor. Should I take a bite out of this?

Once lit, full-on smoke of earthy, leather and cocoa. On my first draw, there was some pepper spice on the retrohale that was welcomed; it’s all gone now about an inch in.

Dark earthy cocoa dominates the main flavors riding on volumes of creamy smoke and the pepper has arrived again and I’m now at the halfway point.

A fabulous final third is starting; all the earthy leather and wood (cedar) flavors are ramping up sliding on creamy chocolate leather. Where did the spice go?

This is a slow cigar so make sure to budget enough time to enjoy this cigar. I’m sure you will glad you did.

Ok, 2018 #9 cigar of the year per Cigar Aficionado, OK, I’ll bite. Seems like a good choice today.

Because of its recent accolades and because I was also smoking another cigar today with a dubious reputation (by me) I wanted to end up with something I knew was going to deliver those cigar flavors I’ve come to love and expect from what I smoke.

Today’s Alec Bradley Black Market Esteli did not disappoint. Today’s experience was all flavor and enjoyment. No issues with the burn or draw, just Ahhhhhh…

Today will be my second Black Market Estelí by Alec Bradley. I’m looking forward to the Nicaraguan Jalapa-Colorado Maduro wrapper flavors. At that, a punch-cut makes way for a fairly tight but sweet chocolate cold draw from this tightly packed Alec Bradley Black Market Estelí, Robusto.

I had one the Black Market Esteli a couple of months ago at the insistence of Jeff Martinez at Sellwood Cigar in S.E. Portland, Sellwood neighborhood. It was an eye-opener, “Wow”, what a pleasant surprise. I had had a couple of the regular Black Market cigars about 8 months ago when I first returned to the cigar hobby, I didn’t remember anything like this.

At the first light, woody earth, I can’t pick up any cocoa or chocolate left over from the cold draw, oh well, maybe later. My puffs are tight so I put another hole next to my first punch, we’ll see how she goes; there’s always my tried and true “Perfect Cut” guillotine — chewy earthy smoke continue to make me happy.

Halfway through, mouthfuls for earthy cedar smoke and no pepper … what little there was, it is now gone.

At the final third not much has changed. Overall, this is a dark, thick, chewy, rich cigar. I found this cigar comforting and a joy to smoke.
