The Balmoral Anejo XO Nicaragua is a beautifully Nicaraguan Habano wrapped cigar. As you might tell from any previous Balmoral comments, you know that I’m a fan of this brand that typically utilized aged Dominican Olor and Nicaraguan Estelí filler leaves mixed with Balmoral’s signature stalk-cut Brazilian Mata Norte tobacco. This proprietary stalk-cut leaf keeps me coming back for more.
Right off the bat, I got black pepper, espresso, and earthy tobacco flavors with a zingy retrohale creating something depth in this slender 42 gauge cigar.
Is this a black pepper stick? I’m at the second third and it seems to me to be the most dominant flavor that I’m picking up. Surprisingly the retrohale does not reflect or produce any spice at all or very mild… at this point.
I’ve got another of this vitola as well as a couple of Robustos to fire up in the near future. This Balmoral cigar is another winner.
