I was a little hesitant to spark this delicious gem as I’ve had some draw and construction issues with this cigar as you can tell from my previous entries… not today!
Once lit, this Nicaraguan Habano Sungrown wrapped Ave Maria Divinia the delivers earthy creamy tobacco flavors of cedar, cocoa, leather, and black pepper accompanied by a subtle sweetness. The retrohale reveals nice mellow pepper flavors. The draw is effortless, allowing the flavors to mingle and develop.
Moving into the second third, this is where I have my fingers crossed for stellar construction that won’t go south on me. The cedar and leather notes remain prominent, but now they are joined by hints of coffee and dark chocolate. The sweetness becomes more pronounced, contributing to a balanced and enjoyable profile. The retrohale accentuates the pepperiness, providing a zesty sensation on the palate. The draw remains smooth and consistent, ensuring a pleasurable smoking experience.
As I reach the final third of the Ave Maria Divinia, the cedar and leather notes satisfy, accompanied by it’s earthiness. The coffee and dark chocolate flavors linger in the background, adding depth and complexity. The sweetness subsides slightly, allowing the savory aspects to shine through. The retrohale continues to deliver a peppery punch, enhancing the overall flavor profile. The draw remains consistent and allows for a satisfying finish only needing an occasional touch up.
In summary, the Ave Maria Divinia is a cigar that delivers a well-rounded and enjoyable experience. From the initial draw to the final puff, the flavors of cedar, leather, black pepper, coffee, and dark chocolate weave together harmoniously. The Nicaraguan Habano Sun Grown wrapper adds an appealing visual element, while the Nicaraguan binder and filler contribute to the cigar’s overall balance and complexity. Retrohaling enhances the spicy notes and adds an extra layer of excitement.

COVID-19 Day 876
Lo and behold… finally this Ave Maria Divinia Toro by A.J. Fernandez / Ave Maria Cigars is behaving itself so far…
In the first third, I’m luxuriating in the plentiful creamy buttery smooth smoke that provides tobacco flavors of earthy cedar, roasted nuts, and milk chocolate, with a splash of leather. The retrohale is giving me some pepper spices that if I don’t watch out will make me shed a tear or two…. Finally! … This Ave Maria is smoking how it should. Let’s see if she keeps it up.
An hour into this cigar and it’s behaving beautifully allowing me to once again enjoy the full flavors that this A.J. Fernandez blend offers… more of the aforementioned, just more of it! The retrohale has mellowed quite a bit to a nice smooth pepper and leather finish.
I fell in love with this Ave Maria Cigar again today… it’s like getting together again with an old girlfriend who you’ve been arguing with and then having fantastic “Make-Up-Sex”.

COVID-19 Day 736
I was looking forward to enjoying this delicious Nicaraguan Habano Sun Grown wrapped Ave Maria Divinia in Toro by Ave Maria Cigars… earthy chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, and woody cedar notes… coming my way!
But… I was outside and didn’t take the proper precautions, so I’ll own the “Operator Errors” that I made with today’s specimen… In my haste, I didn’t “Dry-Box” this to condition it for smoking today and it didn’t help that I was in the cold outdoors with a warm fire on one side and the cold all over the rest made for some cracked wrapper action at about the halfway point.
But, I was able to enjoy a little more than half of it before it blew up! I’ll know better next time for sure!
Until then…

COVID-19 Day 634
Through a deliciously perfect draw come volumes of easy smoke delivering earthy chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, and woody cedar notes… the retrohale caresses my nostrils with leather and a slight pepper spice zing.
At the halfway point after about 90 minutes… this is a slow burner, and I’m not complaining about that… leather tobacco flavors keep me company the rest of the way as the creaminess becomes the focus of my enjoyment.
Today’s smoking experience with this Ave Maria Divinia (Toro) by Ave Maria Cigars, I’m pretty convinced that this will a part of the regular Cigar Rotation moving forward… this is a very enjoyable cigar!

COVID-19 Day 494
First time with this Vitola today… and I’m a fan!
Through volumes of easy creamy smoke came earthy tobacco flavors of coffee, oak, and leather with a spicy white pepper blast on the retrohale encouraging me to smoke more…
At the last third, this cigar is proceeding swimmingly with some malty tobacco flavors entering the picture… The white pepper blast on the retrohale has not let up and I’m fine with that.
Overall, I’m quite please with this new adventure in this Ave Maria Divinia Toro by Ave Maria Cigars. I can’t wait to smoke it again and perhaps be on the lookout to purchase more of these.
Smoke time 90 minutes.
