ATL Wise Blood (Robusto Extra) by ATL Cigar Company

Upon toasting and lighting this new cigar to me, I was greeted with a very open and loose draw… something that I’m not accustomed to. What followed were tobacco flavors of peppery spice, cinnamon and something bready. The draw is smooth, and the burn is even, but the draw takes some getting used to in order to get. Mouthful of smoke to taste. Retrohaling at this stage are mild tobacco flavors; nothing too spectacular.

At the second third, the cigar takes a turn, and the Ecuadorian Connecticut binder makes its presence known. The spiciness recedes, allowing the woody notes to take the spotlight. The transition is seamless, and the flavors remain well-balanced. The nutty and woody profile is now accompanied by a creamy texture, introducing a layer of complexity to the smoke.

The last stretch; the ATL Wise Blood delivers slight earthiness with woody notes and nutty undertones. The draw remains the same.

Overall, the ATL Wise Blood is a well-constructed cigar. I’m guessing that the open draw is intentional. Its Ecuadorian Habano Rosado HVA wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut binder, and Nicaraguan fillers created a pleasant experience; just not what I was expecting and looking for.
